As we all know, trees are living organisms that are constantly changing and adjusting to all of the variables our environment throws at us. When you trim your tree you are helping it do what it does naturally, grow, but in a healthy manner. All too often people do not look up at their trees until things begin to fall in their yard, or worse, on their house, fence, garage, sheds or residents. Regular trimming not only prevents this from happening but also allows the nutrients and water to help the parts of your tree flourish that are also helping the tree grow. Inner canopy growth, diseased, dead or broken branches are referred to as “resource sucks” because they are not giving back to the tree, but instead only using resources that would be better utilized for the healthy portions of the tree.
